Writing Screenwriting is my creative outlet and my work has placed in the Bluecat, American Zoetrope, and Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competitions. I've also had a feature in the Second Round of the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship (Sundance.) I enjoy using screenwriting to explore themes related to nature, commerce and personal growth. I served as Associated Editor of The SciTech Lawyer Magazine; and lectured at events sponsored by the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), University of Michigan, and Stanford University Law School. I've been reading for Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Competition since 2020.
Practice of Law I've counseled technology companies and non-profits in senior legal roles (including as General Counsel and Board Member) for two decades; providing legal representations for entities such as Meta, BMC Software, Inc. and Thomson Reuters, as well as scrappy start-ups and small businesses. I've negotiated thousands of valuable transactions with Fortune 500 companies (e.g. airlines, insurance companies, financial institutions, software service providers, and MSP,) renowned medical centers, and state and local governments. Many of these deals were worth millions of dollars and required collaboration with many different people and departments all over the world. I've also had my own profitable business offering bioethics counsel to life sciences companies, including well known global laboratories.
I'm happy to share what I've learned: how to lead negotiations, ease difficult conversations, create the foundation for long term business relationships, balance work and family obligations or start and run a profitable business.
Staying Inspired My passions include painting, health & wellness, 1960s American design, gardening and hiking, as well as Great Lakes water conservation and supporting the efforts of the World Wildlife Fund. I have dual citizenship in the US and UK.
